What's in the Profile?

The objective of your profile is to convince employers why you are the best candidate. Simply, the candidate profile is made up of three creative details (headshot, video, fun facts) along with three job preference questions (desired payment structure, length of work, hrs/week). In this blog post, we will dive into designing the perfect profile that will have employers snatching you up!

Creative Details:

Let's start with the creative details since it holds the most weight in an employer's decision to select you as their intern.

Headshot

Your headshot is the first impression you have with your future employer. Do you appear professional? Happy? Approachable? Confident? Most individuals have this type of photo ready to upload at a given notice; however, if you don't, we strongly suggest you retake one wearing your typical interview attire!

Video

Since the TeleMatch profile doesn't contain a resume or even a traditional interview, employers rely on the short video to demonstrate the candidate's skills. Similar to the headshot, you should dress the way you want to be perceived. We always recommend dressing up and keeping clean since the majority of employers don't mind seeing a nicely groomed face! For the content of the video, make sure you are engaging. After all, the point of the video is to demonstrate your professionalism, oral communication, and persuasion skills. Yes, it may be nice to have a script of your lines pulled up, but its disengaging when employers see candidates reading. Instead, maybe outline your 30-seconds and wing it! You have as many takes as you want, after all, so make it perfect!

Personality Questions

Your personality questions should be fun! Since the profile doesn't tell anything about your past, these 3 questions (1 sentence each, not 1 word each) should inform the employer about your personality. The goal of this section is to make the employer think, "Interesting, I want to meet this person!"

Job Preferences:

While the creativity section gets your foot in the door, the three job preference questions ensure that you are a great professional fit to fill the employer's needs.

Pay Structure

Possibly the most important question to ensure that employers even consider your profile is the desired payment structure question. While most candidates have heard of an hourly wage, many have no clue how commission-based payment or a combination of commission and hourly payment works. These two performance-based structures allow employers to minimize their financial risk in case a candidate is not an effective outbound marketer. This is why the majority of employers focus on commission payment or the combination payment. We highly recommend considering these structures as they prove to have the highest selection rates.

Employment Type

Similar to the above question, the number of employment type (part-time vs full-time) allows employers to quickly match your needs with their own. While we notice the majority of our interns choose only part-time work, please be aware that you may be open to both options. After all, this means that you will match the needs of a larger amount of employers, thus increasing your selection chance!

Work Duration

Finally, the work duration question details how long the intern plans to be working for. As in anything, the higher your flexibility, the more employers' needs you will fit, thus increasing your selection chance!

Rather than in a typical interview where you tell the employer why you are the best, in our profile, you really show them!
